An Echo of Eden

In the heart of Cumbria, where the rolling hills meet the sky,

There lay a realm called Eden, where whispers of history lie.

For years, its council governed, within a grand and stately hall,

Penrith Town Hall stood proudly, a sentinel to all.

Its walls of stone, resilient, echoed with the voice of time,

Each meeting held within its rooms, a testament, a rhyme.

Majestic wooden doors, once open wide to all,

Now close for the last time, as shadows softly fall.

Oh, Penrith Town Hall, guardian of Eden’s lore,

Your presence spoke of grandeur, from ceiling to the floor.

In chambers filled with wisdom, decisions wise were made some of the time,

For the good of Eden’s people, your role was unafraid.

April dawned a new era, in twenty-twenty-three,

Westmorland and Furness Council rose, as Eden's ceased to be.

Yet yesterday, a poignant scene, as your grand doors gently closed,

Marking the end of an epoch, as history composed.

Your wooden doors, now silent, once creaked with history’s weight,

Through them passed the hopes and dreams, of townsfolk’s common fate.

In your heart, the echoes of debates and plans well laid,

Reside in timeless reverie, where memories never fade.

Oh, Penrith Town Hall, your stature and your grace,

Hold stories of a council, etched deeply in this place.

Though now your rooms are quiet, and your halls no longer stir,

The legacy you harboured, will in our hearts confer.

Eden’s spirit lingers, in every stone and beam,

A symbol of commitment, to the land of lakes and streams.

Your doors may close, yet open wide within our minds and hearts,

A beacon of community, from which we’ll never part.

So here's to Penrith’s Town Hall, your duty nobly done,

A sentinel to Eden, until the setting sun.

Though structures change and time moves on, one truth remains so clear:

The heart of Eden’s legacy will ever persevere.

Farewell, majestic building, your wooden doors now rest,

Your service to our Eden, was truly of the best.

As we step into a new eras, of a new councils reign,

We hold the name Eden in reverence, through sunshine and through rain.
