I will always remain Eden, and I will always be proud to have had you call me your home.
Dear Residents of Eden,
I am your home, your valley, your Eden the place you call home and have done for 49 years. However It is with a heavy heart that I write to you today.
As you may know, I am as the district of Eden about to be abolished and my communities will be moved into Westmorland and Furness as part of a wider local government reorganisation in Cumbria.
This news is deeply saddening for me, as I have been proud to serve as your district for many years. I have seen our communities grow and thrive, and I have been inspired by the resilience and spirit of the people who call this area home.
But while I may be abolished, I want to remind you that our communities will forever be Eden. No matter where we are placed on the map, we will always carry with us the legacy of our district and the values that we hold dear.
I know that this is a difficult and uncertain time for many of you. Change can be scary, especially when it means leaving behind something that we hold dear. But I want to assure you that Eden will rise again. Our communities will continue to grow and prosper, and we will always be connected by the shared history and experiences that we have.
So, although we may be apart for now, I urge you to stay strong and remain true to the values that define us as Eden. We may face challenges in the days and months ahead, but I know that we can overcome them together.
Thank you for being a part of my journey as your district. It has been an honour to serve you, and I will always cherish the memories that we have shared. Although I may be abolished, I will always remain Eden, and I will always be proud to have had you call me your home.
Until we are reunited
Forever Eden,
The District of Eden.
