I have always been a proud county, with a rich heritage, a strong identity, and a unique character. I have always valued my fells and lakes, and I have always strived to serve the interests of my people to the best of my ability.

However, this reorganisation threatens to take away all that I hold dear. It threatens to divide me into two separate entities, to erode my identity, to weaken my voice, and to strip away my ability to make decisions that are in the best interests of my residents.
