The report been hidden that closed Newton Rigg commissioned by Eden Council.
Just what have Eden District Council got to hide about Newton Rigg?
At the start of this month I made a freedom of information request to EDC to ask for details and a copy of the report they commissioned and got funding from One Public Estates into the options to develop and use the land of Newton Rigg that identified alternative usage cases including housing developments.
I flagged up about the risks of this at the time and shortly after we know what happened and were things are now with Newton Rigg.
Eden council have today emailed me to say they consider the request made for details and a copy of the report as an environmental request and have said will charge if I wish to processed with the requests at rates of £25 per hour.
This appears to be the go to tactic to put people of making FOI requests by Eden council of late having had the same recently on another request they after challenge confirmed was not actually an environmental request.
I have again challenged Eden on this and will not let them hide the truth of their part in the demise of Newton Rigg having added a value to disposal of the site with the report they commissioned and got funding for.
Their hands are dirty on the closure of Newton Rigg and the truth will be made public on how they have contributed to the loss of Newton Rigg.
