I fully back and support the plans for Blaze Fell Luge track

It’s time to look to the future not remain stuck in the past.

I have to a degree not said to much on this subject recently however have in the past stated my support for it.

I am now officially declaring my public position of supporting this proposal to create what will be Europe’s first gravity powered, downhill luge track on the northern side of Blaze Fell, at Nord Vue Farm, 2miles outside Armathwaite and 10miles North of Penrith.

In a location that provides excellent access just of the A6 main road with direct links to the M6 via Junction 41 and Penrith with links to Carlisle to the North and rail access via Armathwaite station as well as Penrith and Carlisle.

This unique experience will attract new visitors to the local area, helping to attract and disperse tourism throughout Cumbria.

Cumbria has a heavy reliance on tourism as one of its main economic drivers the impact of the pandemic like the impact of foot and mouth two decade earlier has snow. The devastation impact on the local economy and the wider social impacts this causes.

Tourism in Cumbria is facing a crunch point as its traditional customer base shrinks and must be replaced with then next generation of visitors that bring with them the disposable incomes that drive the local economy.

No longer can Cumbria rely simply on the visitors pitching up for cakes and tea by the lake. We must evolve to provide a divers offering to compete with the word that the disposable income generation have as there destination choice.

If Cumbria is stuck in the past and placed in the protective bubble some would have us in the economy will suffer irreversible decline that will create far greater impacts on all of Cumbria.

This Luge Track will not be a single point destination it will be part of a wider visitor experience by those who come to the area and as part of there destination stay will visit the Blaze Fell Luge Track as an economic driver for the wider region.

There will always be those who oppose development of such projects but the local area has seen the disastrous impacts of blindly opposing plans and the negative impacts that emerge as a result.

I fully support the plans for Blaze Fell Luge track.

It’s time to look to the future not remain stuck in the past.
