Government Contempt for Cumbria

The Conservative government are only interested in grabbing more power not people and place.

The actions of the Conservative government just show the utter contempt for the north they have in Westminster.

The decision to create 2 unitary councils to serve Cumbria that will see Carlisle, Allerdale and Copeland form one council and Eden, South Lakeland and Barrow for the other council with a low number of councillors serving the large areas.

This split is all about the grab of control and power over the councils rather than what is best for Cumbria and all who call Cumbria home.

This mess is been driven by a handful of individuals who are focused on grabbing more power and control over our communities and have forgotten why they got into local government to serve the community and people.

The other 2 area in the UK undergoing this process with Cumbria have had single unitary to serve the areas created yet the power grab for Cumbria the often forgotten county when it comes to funding and infrastructure as part of national projects is not the victim of a conservative led grab on power at the expense of the people of Cumbria who have no say in the process.

There should have been a referendum on the whole unitary change.

All parts of Cumbria will be worse of under the idiotic plans that it’s people have had no final say over.

#PuttingCumbriaFirst and I will 100% support Cumbria County Council leadership of they proceed with a legal challenge after the flippant dismissal by government of the preaction notice.
