Be warned eyes are watching and waiting for the social share slip to happen, and they will be there to tittle-tattle on you double quick.
I have today become aware that the simple act of helping to share some community information has a protocol to follow, that if not done, can cause a right stir.
A local group have set up a Facebook page to simply share local information and events in the community. It appears, they shared a local project post from an organisation, and for some reason did a copy and paste of the original post and shared the information via their page to spread the good news and the community project. This has resulted in emails flying about, of the page pretending to be the other organisation.
Not sure, if there is a correct way to share information on local community activity on social media, but would have thought, the best thing is that the information gets out into the community, so as many people as possible can benefit from the information and it has as wide an audience as possible.
In this case the group running the Facebook local page have removed the original and ensured it has now shared the original post by the other group.
Personally, I would have deleted it and said forget it share your own information next time.
At a time were engaging within the community and collaboration, Social Media is the act of sharing or reposting more important, personally its sharing the information out for the good of the community that takes the lead with me.
So be warned, eyes are watching and waiting for the social share slip to happen, and they will be there to tittle-tattle on you double quick.
