Disparity between elected officials

the diffrence between rules for MP's and those for councillors that fails to ensure representation across all levels of government for communities.

As councillors our attendance to meetings is logged and publicly available for all to see.

We also have rues that mean if a Cllr fails to attend for 6 months, they are no longer councillors unless dispensation is granted due to health or other valid reasons.

Yet MP's have no record of attendance and in fact no requirements to attend parliament that could see them loose office if they fail to attend.

Just a big pay out and expenses for even not attending or token attendance is the reward they land right now.

There are also rules around who can stand as councillors that mean they have to have links to the area that dont apply for MP's an MP can literally land on an area at election time have no knowledge of the communities and the issues in the constituency and if they wear the right Rosset get elected and do more harm than good for the area.

The system in the UK of government from the top down is broken and needs radical change moves to look to proportional representation or even a Federal UK government structure would help to rebalance the issues but we need across the board criteria for standing including having links to the area either through living or working for all candidates and across the board the right to recall for failure to represent the ward or constituency through a referendum of the electorate that can be called by say 12 memebrs of the community for failure to represent.

Right now, some areas have MP's who have hardly been in parliament and have no real link beyond photo opportunity to the areas they serve at the honour of the electorate landed in areas from on high with no real support only elected because of the we have always voted that way crowd.
