Across Eden there are many services, public assets and spaces that are delivered by Eden council via our council tax.
From the children's playpark in Pategill to garden waste in Clifton.
Yet all these face cuts and uneven service across Eden the playpark in Pategill has been neglected by Eden council and is in need of some serious TLC to make it safe to use yet nothing it stands idle.
Some parts of Eden although they pay the same as the rest of Eden in council tax have no garden waste collection service or recycling service.
Yet instead of sending time and public money to deliver for the community Eden council is focused on its One Eden agenda of Voreda House.
Money should be spend fixing the broken community spaces and delivering universal services for all of Eden before a vanity project of the executive to build its ivory tower that it may never occupy as a council.
Across Eden the community spaces that are been neglected by Eden District council but are valued by the community are slowly falling into disrepair and neglect by Eden council. These assets should be devolved to the town and parish councils across Eden without delay to ensure the communities that value them can maintain and enhance them for the community benefit.
In Penrith we have a great example of the Fair Hill site delivered by the Penrith town Council as a site is manages and maintains and this could be replicated across Penrith and indeed Eden is all such spaces were devolved to the town and parish councils.
Its interesting that in many parts of Eden the street lighting was forced on town and parish councils to maintain and deliver by Eden council yet they have held onto the land assets of playparks and green spaces even when communities want to take them on.
The lack of spending on public spaces and assets by Eden council at the same time it pushes ahead with this Voreda House vanity project is a kick in the teeth for communities when our children's playparks are left to rust by the same council.
From playparks to Green bins Eden council is failing the people and communities it is there to serve.
The Libdem led rainbow coalition that runs Eden Council paints a woolly picture of doing good but falls way short on its deliver for the people it represents.
It's unfortunate that the electorate do not have right to call a vote of no confidence in the councils and elected memebrs of it because right now I have zero confidence in the ability of Eden council administration to deliver for the people and place it is there to serve.
