2030 post collapse

The future is fictional until it becomes historical fact. The road we travel now will define the future we face when we reach the end of the journey.

The year is 2030.

The world we knew in 2019 has gone .

Many did not see what was approaching our world as the new year was celebrated around the world and 2020 began.

A tiny microscopic virus was slowly spreading first it appeared to be localised in Asia.

But within the early months of 2020 it became apparent this virus that had been named Covid19 had bigger plans.

Within days it spread across the globe and within weeks the virus had become a global pandemic. Cases began to rise people were hospitalised in the thousands globally and the deaths began to rise .

Soon after this nations began to take steps to try and slow the virus and hospital case numbers.

Many eventually responded with total lockdowns with citizens ordered to stay at home.

This worked in the main to keep case numbered lower but eventually people began to protest fuelled by the rhetoric of the American president in his final months of office who failed to act to fight Covid in the USA leading to growing cases and deaths.

Eventually other nations leaders wobbled on the measures in part because of the opposition to lockdowns.

The virus once again took hold and grew in cases new variants mutated and spread fuelling the pandemics spread.

Eventually vaccines started to emerge and be administered at a rate not seen before in the fight against the virus.

This however results in more protests from what became known as the anti Vaxers.

Then in late 2021 almost 2 years since the virus had first started to emerge in Asia. It happened a new mutation was detected in the UK in a tiny village in the North of England that had seen all measures to reduce inflection abolished by the government earlier in that year.

The virus had run freely since then and vaccine protection had started to reduce rapidly in the autumn of 2021.

The tiny village in what was Cumbria in the North of England had been hit hard with the virus after a busy summer with tourists visiting the area.

In late October the first case of a new mutation of Covid19 was detected with some very concerning changes.

The virus was now mutated to the level that no vaccine was effective against it no natural antibodies were effective and the virus appeared to be much more transmissible by air as well as contact.

The virus had also mutated to have much more serious impact on its victims even with mild cases.

From impacting people’s eyes causing sight loss through to causing organs to rupture and victims to bleed internally.

This pushed governments around the world to react.

Closing down all borders at first but then as cases of the new mutation appeared in other areas nations again ordered lockdowns but this time the lockdowns got stricter over time as the virus continued to spread and the eventual must stay at home and not leaving the home order was given.

Food rations were delivered by teams in protective clothing.

The global economy ground to a complete stop.

Within weeks of the new lockdown people began to protest arrests were made but the virus took hold fast and spread this took the ability to maintain law and order.

By December nations around the world were seeing shortages of basic food and supplies leading to more protests and riots.

Then it happened on Christmas Eve 2021 the UK declared martial law and the order to shoot any one caught breaking the lockdown was given. Rapidly other countries followed this approach to try to maintain order and curb the virus spreading.

On Christmas Day 2021 a large crowd of protesters gathered in London and other UK cities protesting against the lockdown and the martial law that had been declared.

At just after 11am on the 25th of December 2021 after repeated requests to the protesters to return to their homes it happened. The first sounds of gun fire were heard slowly growing in volume.

No one knows what happened in London that day because shortly after the power grid in the UK failed due to the massive usage and lack of people to maintain the grid.

This quickly saw communication systems fail and things start to break down.

With the breakdown of power and communications people were left cut off and without in most cases the ability to cook what little food they had.

The government in the UK by the time the new year and 2023 began had collapsed the UK was now a collapsed state with no control or functioning leadership.

Looting and riots broke out and with no law and order saw many try to escape the cities.

The breakdown of the UK set of a catalyst of other nations imploding.

All through Covid19 was mutating and was now rapidly infecting and killing its victims.

With no structure of society left bodies were left were they lay.

By what is thought to have been August 2022 most cities lay lifeless as the virus had killed many and the lucky few had escaped to rural areas.

As the winter of 2022 hit it was clear the virus was now reaching natural burnout. The millions dead and the now sparse distribution of small communities that had survived had cut of the ability for the virus to spread an mutate.

This saw the virus die out as it’s own victim.

The winter of 2022 was a hard winter and with the lack of Food and power many more survivors of the pandemic perished through starvation and the cold.

As spring broke in April 2023 the world of even a year before was gone.

The survivors in the small communities they had formed had only themselves to rely on now.

The structure of society the food and power on demand were gone.

The global society had collapsed and the world was now a post social collapse world without social structure or the many common things of the world that had past.

The tiny virus many though had come from a bat and infected its first victim in 2019 had brought humanity to its knees and collapsed the world and society that had collapsed the world it ravaged.

Many of the survivors lacked the knowledge to survive in this new world.

As of like a moth to a flame they were drawn into small communities were those that had the knowledge or ability to help feed and enable people to survive quickly became seen as the leaders of the communities and new micro societies began to emerge.

Eventually after a few years these communities had become self sufficient able to feed and care for those in their communities and even evolved some systems of law and order and things like education for children started to take shape.

Slowly communities started to go out and scavenge from the ruins of the old world and connect with other communities.

By 2029 new communities were fast becoming stable micro nations with the inevitable fallouts and battles with other communities and the challenges of the world that now existed.

But there was hope as the communities started to work together and form new alliances to further protect and grown their communities.

Some had even managed to reconnect parts of the old world with some areas having power other everyday items of the old world.

But the population was low and covid had left many unable to have children.

The final twist of Covid for those why had made the new world may be that they witness the end of the human race as the population gets older and the low number of new people see the population slowly vanishing away.
