Jonathan Davies for Eden Council

Candidate in the Penrith West By Election for Eden Council on the 30th September 2021.

When there are issues and problems that need addressed the only way to do that is through open conversations with all involved.

Unfortunately some appear to just take a one sided closed mind approach of attacking and offending rather than engaging and actively working to deliver Soloutions.

I believe in open direct engagement and delivering results not just hot air and insults.

I am and will continue to work to act as a voice for the community and deliver positive results and outcomes that benefit people and place.

I am standing to as a candidate in the Penrith West by-election for the Eden council seat.

I already represent the ward as a town councillor and have enjoyed meeting with residents to discuss issues they need addressed and ideas they have and would like to see happen.

Some of the issues that have been rasied over the last year have been speeding in the community, littering, the condition or roads and paths, the wider issue of public transport and the need to invest and help reinvigorate Penrith and the high street.

Over the last 6 months I have worked to address litter issues both actively supporting community efforts to clean up our communities with litter picking and by addressing the litter bins in the commmunity the emptying of and deployment location of litter bins and new bins with new bins and relocated bins now been auctioned in the community.

The issue of speeding has many impacts on the lives of the community and many potential devastating impacts can arrive from speeding.

In July I introduced a motion to council to create a 20mph speed zone for Penrith to give a unified speed limit covering all areas rather than the current mix match of speed limits.

The aim to make our streets safe for people to walk and cycle for children to play. To reduce noise, pollution and to address the issue that cripples the roads around Penrith of traffic gridlock. The slowe speeds are proven to enable smoother traffic flow and ease congestion.

The A66 upgrade includes the Kemplay roundabout improvements with an undpass I propsed in 2018 and Highways England have taken forward as the solution to help with congestion on the A66.

This will include a 40mph speed limit on a section of the A66 at Kemplay that will link well with a 20mph speed zone through Penrith and further improve traffic flow.

In 2020 as the world was tirn d on its head by Covid19 measures were put in place in Penrith by the County council that risked the future of businesses in Penrith and also causing unimaginable traffic chaos.

When the county council imposed the closure of roads in the middle of Penrith.

I put forward an alternative solution and was the only councillor to actively stand up and oppose the closures put in place by the local Lidbem, Conservative and Labour councillors of the Eden area committee with no consultations with the local community its residents or business.

I stood with the community and with the community we overcame the imposed measures and reopened Penrith together.

I hope that my actions speak louder than just hot air others generate with no results that benefit the community.

I am standing for Eden Council for the Penrith West by election on September 30th.

I need your support to take forward the need to hold to account Eden Council and deliver positive results for the community.

If you can vote please vote Jonathan Davies #PuttingCumbriaFirst on the 30th of September if your not in the Penrith West ward don’t worry you can still help by sharing this wide with friends and family 😉

I promise to continue doing what I do and been a voice for the community Putting People and Place Not Power and personal agendas first.

I am a Jonathan Davies and I am your Putting CumbriaFirst Candidate for Eden Council on September 30th.
